Fish (Carp) are considered a symbol of strength in China. Carp (Koi in Japan) are constantly swimming upstream and against the current because of this their image is used to represent strength, independence, perseverance, ambition and good luck. A pair of fish represents happiness in marriage. Bells have long been used by shaman for protection and to scare off dark and negative energies. Today bells are used in ceremonies to clear away stagnant energies, but also used in ceremonial dances of many cultures to celebrate joy and happiness. The nature conscious use chimes and bells to notice subtle differences in wind direction or weather patterns.
